Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Jane Kerr was born about 1852 in Glasgow, Scotland.

She married Carnegie Low in 1878, and they emigrated to Otago in 1879 on the Oamaru.

They had 10 children, and when Jane signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston and Carnegie was working as a railway guard.

In 1901 they moved to Dunedin before retiring to Christchurch in later life.

Carnegie died in 1934 and Jane died at her home on February 15th 1945. They are buried together in the Bromley Cemetery, Christchurch.
