Mrs C Meyers birth name was Catherine Richardson and she was born circa 1859.
On 21 March 1880 Catherine married Charles Henry Bagley at the residence of Thomas Frampton, Cameron Street, Waimate. Catherine and Charles were both 21 years of age. Charles was a Butcher and Catherine a Dressmaker. Witnesses to the marriage were Thomas and Alice Frampton.
Catherine and Charles had two sons born in 1881 and 1884 respectively. Their surname registered at birth is Bugley (microfiche birth index). Two further sons born 1882 and 1890 died young.
A daughter was registered in 1887 with the surname Bugley and in 1891 with the surname Buggel (microfiche index) and father’s name is recorded as Carl Henry Herman Buggel.
The 1881, 1893 and 1896 electoral rolls record Charles Bugley, Waimate, Butcher. The 1893 and 1896 electoral rolls record Catherine Bugley living in Waimate, married.
When Catherine signed the 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition, she signed as Mrs C Meyers.
Around September 1901 in Waimate, Charles Henry Bagley appears to have changed his name to Charles Meyers.
The 1903 electoral roll records that Catherine, Charles and William Henry Meyers were living at Leonard street, Waimate. Charles and William were butchers.
By 1925 the family had moved to Herbert street, Waimate. Catherine and Charles resided there until their respective deaths.
Charles’ Obituary states that he was a resident of Waimate for about fifty years.
At the time of his death, he was in business with Alf Jones, butcher.
He was an Office Bearer of the Knox Presbyterian church for at least seven years.
Charles died on 16 October 1927 age 67 years in Waimate, South Canterbury.
Catherine died on 2 September 1928 age 69 years in Waimate. She is buried with Charles in the Waimate Old cemetery, Presbyterian section, Row 7, Plot 000574
