Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine Parker was born about 1841 in England.

She was married to John Parker and they had, at least, one child.

In 1886 they were living in North Otago and John was working as a postmaster.

By the time that Catherine signed the suffrage petition they had moved to North East Valley, Dunedin and John was a traveller.

A few years later they ran the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel in Dunedin where their daughter died in 1898.

John died in 1901 – he is buried with their daughter in the Northern Cemetery.

Catherine died on 1 July 1923 – she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
