Alice Carrington nee Myall was born 6th June 1856 Bermondsey Surrey England and came to NZ with her parents James and Sarah Myall (nee Martin), sister Eliza and brothers James and William Alfred on the 'Evening Star' in 1860. In 1877 she married John Carrington and they lived in Filleul St Dunedin. She was involved with extended family with some marrying at their house. Alice died 22 April 1953 aged 97 years at Ross Home Dunedin and is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
