Annie Pearton was born about 1843 in Westminster, London.
She married John Chettleburgh, a gardener, in London in 1867 and they had six children before the family emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Adamant.
They had a further six children, two who died in infancy, and they settled in Dunedin.
When Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Grendon, Maori Hill.
Annie died at her home on 4 October 1918 and John died in 1927 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
