Jane Sutcliffe was born in 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Sutcliffe, a carpenter, and Naomi Pilling and sister of Sarah. (See 39 Mrs Dunning)
She grew up in Dunedin where she married bricklayer Charles Clark on 25 December 1884.
They had four children and when Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Edwin St, Caversham.
Jane died on 21 April 1941 and Charles died in 1944 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
