Jean/Jane Nicol was born about 1808 in Stirlingshire, Scotland.
She married William Crawford. They lived in Glasgow and had at least four children. William appears to have died before the family emigrated to Otago in 1863 on the City of Dunedin.
They settled in Elm Row, Dunedin, where Jean died on 18 May 1897. She is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
