Hannah McGowan was born about 1843 in Carlingford, Ulster, Ireland.
She emigrated to New Zealand and married Alexander Cummings, a farmer, on December 6th 1878 in the Palmerston parish.
They had three sons and when Hannah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston.
Alexander died at their home in 1915, and Hannah died in Dunedin on October 12th 1926. They are buried together in the Palmerston Cemetery.
