Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Isabella Prentice was born on 1 October 1855 in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland — the daughter of Adam Prentice, a cooper, and Isabella Anderson.
She married Daniel Forrester, an engineer, in Edinburgh in 1885.
They had a son in 1886 before Daniel travelled to New Zealand about 1889.
Two years later Isabella and her son came to join Daniel and a daughter was born soon after.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Stanley St, Ravensbourne and Daniel was working as a collector.
They later moved to South Dunedin where they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 1944 by entertaining family and friends at their home.
Isabella died on 31 July 1944 and Daniel died in 1946. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
