Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Margaret Thomson was born about 1837 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She married blacksmith David Hood about 1860, and they emigrated to New Zealand about 1863.

They do not appear to have had any children.

When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Alpha St, Roslyn, Dunedin.

They later moved to Bradshaw St in South Dunedin, where Margaret died on December 20th 1899. David remarried the following year.

David died in 1909. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
