Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Loudon was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Loudon, a coal mine operator and storekeeper, and Elizabeth Wilson. (See 150 E Loudon)

Elizabeth married David Wilson Johnston, a bacon curer, on 5 January 1893 at her home in Fairfield and shortly after her marriage she signed the suffrage petition there.

Elizabeth and David had four children and they lived in Fairfield until the 1920s when they moved to Dunedin.

Elizabeth died at her home on 17 October 1929 and David died in 1934 – they are buried together in the Green Island Cemetery.
