Kate/Catherine McNaughton was born about 1840.
She emigrated to Otago in 1862 on the Pladda accompanied by Christina and Margaret McNaughton, possibly her sisters.
She married Charles Bryant, a painter in 1871 and they had four children.
Charles died at Lawrence in 1881 and Catherine re-married in 1884 to John Davidson, a bootmaker and widower.
When Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were still living in Lawrence where John died in 1919, he is buried with his first wife in the Lawrence Cemetery.
Catherine died on 23 June 1929, at her home, she is buried with Charles also in the Lawrence Cemetery.
