Elizabeth Smart Strachan was born about 1825 in Kincardineshire, Scotland.
She married James Donald, a joiner on January 4th1855 in Greenock, Renfrewshire & they had 2 daughters.
In the early 1860’s the family emigrated to Otago where their youngest daughter Isobel died in 1863 in Dunedin.
The family lived in Cumberland St, Dunedin where Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition & James worked as a miner.
Elizabeth died at her home on May 20th1899 & James died at their daughter Elizabeth’s home in 1916, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
