On Christmas Day in 1888, Elizabeth Fussell married Robert Drinkwell at the Baptist church on Oxford Terrace in Christchurch. She had come to New Zealand when she was only five months old. With her were her parents William and Emily, and her two brothers. Robert was from Yorkshire, and had also come to New Zealand as a child. Together Elizabeth and Robert had four children, and ran a grocery business in Christchurch before they moved to Brisbane.
