Margaret Chisholm was born about 1860 in Scotland, she married Alexander Duncan, a joiner, in Invernesshire, Scotland in 1883.
They emigrated to Otago shortly after and had four children, one who died at the age of three years.
The family lived in Ross St, Rothesay, Dunedin where Margaret signed the suffrage petition.
Alexander died in 1912, he is buried with their son in the Northern Cemetery.
Some time after Alexander’s death Margaret went to live in Christchurch. She died at her daughter’s home in Christchurch on 26 March 1929 and is buried in the Bromey Cemetery, Christchurch.
