Elizabeth Sinclair Begbie was born on August 2nd 1846 in Lanarkshire, Scotland – the daughter of Andrew Begbie, an engineer, & Margaret Crawford.
Her mother died in 1862 & soon after the family emigrated to Otago.
Elizabeth married Alexander Kirk Baxter, an expressman, on December 31st 1867 in Dunedin.
They had 5 children & when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Grange Street.
Alexander died in July 1923 & Elizabeth died at her home 6 weeks later on September 15th.
They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
