She married James Blackwood on 29 March 1877 in Balclutha.

James worked for the New Zealand Railways and they lived Invercargill before retiring to Gore where Agnes signed the suffrage petition.

They had eight children who all survived to adulthood.

Agnes died on 25 August 1894 – she is buried in the Gore Cemetery.

James died in Timaru in 1927 – he is buried with one of their sons in the Timaru Cemetery.
