Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Mary Ann Bradley was born on 17 June 1846 in Derby, England.

She emigrated to New Zealand where she married William Edmonds, a plasterer, in 1875.

William was a widower with four children.

Mary and William had three sons and three daughters – all of their daughters died in infancy or early childhood.

When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Park St, Kensington in Dunedin.

William died at their home in 1910 and Mary died in Christchurch on 9 November 1917 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
