Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Caroline Wilhelmina Gohring was born about 1841. She married Franz/Frank Beissel, a hairdresser, in 1863 in New Zealand. They had 14 children and at least three died in infancy.
The family lived in Dunedin, and Caroline was living in Cargill Street when she signed the suffrage petition. Her daughter, Augusta Caroline Louisa, also signed the petition.
Caroline died on 12 July 1905 at Pacific St, Nevada, Dunedin. Franz died in 1907 and they are both buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
