Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Christina Smith was born about 1854 in Scotland.

She emigrated to New Zealand about 1869 and she married Archibald Ferguson, a seaman, on 1 January 1883 in the Milton parish in South Otago.

They had two daughters and the family settled in Dunedin.

When Christina signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Baldwin St, Sunnydale, North East Valley.

Archibald died in 1938 and Christina died the following year on 25 January. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
