Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret was born in Kilrea, Ireland about 1857 and was married to John Flanagan, a cabman.

She is possibly the Margaret Vincent McLery who married John Flanagan in New Zealand in 1881.

Margaret and John had four children and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Leith St, Dunedin.

John died in 1927 and Margaret died on 21 April 1933, they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
