Mrs G Meredith was born Morella (aka Alice Muriel or Alice Morella) Cutler to John Cutler and his wife Marianne Kelly, on 14 June 1866 in Auckland. John Cutler had arrived in Auckland, New Zealand on the ship British Sovereign in 1845 and Marianne Kelly arrived in Auckland on the ship Inchinnen in 1852. They married in Auckland on 7 March 1854.
Alice Cutler married in 1891 to George Henry Meredith in Auckland. They had 3 daughters and 2 sons.
Alice lived in Aratapu from c 1891 till c 1922 when the electoral rolls record her living at 12 Aitken Terrace, Grey Lynn, Auckland until her death.
From c 1891 George Meredith was a Storekeeper in Aratapu. In 1911 he is recorded in the electoral roll as a Tobacconist. In 1925 he is recorded as living in Tikinui and his occupation as a Canner. Meredith Brothers had a factory in Tikinui canning whole Toheroa.
George Meredith died on 22 January age 69 years in Auckland and is buried in the Waikumete cemetery, Auckland in the Presbyterian Division D, Row 18, Plot 36. At the time of his death, he was living at 12 Aitken Terrace, Grey Lynn, Auckland.
Alice Meredith died on 8 July 1955 age 89 years and is buried with her husband in Waikumete cemetery, Auckland.
