Hannah Paddon was born in South Australia in 1861 – the daughter of Samuel Paddon and Jane Boyer.
She came to New Zealand with her family in 1863 and they settled in Southland.
She married George William Batcheler, a blacksmith, in 1879 and they had nine children.
When Hannah signed the suffrage petition the family were living at Oraki, near Colac Bay.
In the 1910s they moved to Invercargill where Hannah died on 28 August 1913 and George died in 1932.
They are buried together in the St John’s Cemetery, Invercargill.
