Agnes was born about 1846 in Scotland. She married William Galloway, a carpenter, in about 1865. They had a daughter in Scotland before emigrating to Otago about 1867.
They had a further three children in Dunedin before William died in 1871. In 1874 their three year old son William also died.
When she signed the suffrage petition Agnes was living with her family in Dalry St, Dunedin.
She died in Cameron St, South Dunedin on 17 March 1924 and is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
