Eleanor/Ellen Thomson was born about 1842 in Scotland.
She married George Inglis on 15 September 1868 in Edinburgh and later that year they emigrated to Otago on the William Davey.
They settled in Stirling in South Otago where they purchased a farm.
They had three children and remained on the farm until about 1890 when they retired to Milton.
George died in 1892 and after his death the family moved to North East Valley, Dunedin where Ellen signed the suffrage petition.
Ellen died at her home on 14 March 1922, she is buried with George in the Old Balclutha Cemetery.
