Georgina Peterson was born on May 8th 1858 in Sandsting and Aithsting in the Shetland Islands, the daughter of James Peterson, a farmer and fisherman, and Catherine Henry.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Auckland and they settled in Dunedin.
Georgina married John Gow, a baker, in 1885 and they had four children.
When Georgina signed the suffrage petition the family were living in King Street.
John died at their home in 1927 and Georgina also died at home on June 12th 1946. They are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
