Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Margaret Ferguson was born in Cumberland, England about 1834 – the daughter of John Ferguson, a farmer, and Jane Armstrong.
She married Francis Lamb Graham, a farmer, in 1860 in Longtown, Cumberland and they had nine children, one who died in infancy, before the family emigrated to Otago in 1881 on the Wild Deer.
The family lived in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin, where Francis was the manager of the Waikouaiti Dairy Factory and where Margaret signed the suffrage petition.
She died at her home on 3 August 1901 and Francis died the following year. They are buried together in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
