Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Isabella Stewart was born about 1845. She married Alexander Grant, a carpenter, on 18 January 1860 in Invernesshire, Scotland.
Seven days after their marriage the couple sailed for Otago on the Storm Cloud arriving at the end of April.
They appear to have had eight children, one who probably died in childhood.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Elm Row, Dunedin.
Alexander died in 1903 and Isabella died on 8 February 1916, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
