Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Charlotte Josephine Wooler was born in 1853 in Newcastle, England – the daughter of Joseph Wooler, a railway clerk, and Charlotte Haswell.
She married Henry George Moore in London in 1875 and they had a son the following year before they emigrated to New Zealand about 1877.
They settled in Dunedin where Henry worked as a printer and they had a further four children.
When Charlotte signed the suffrage petition the family were living in North East Valley.
Henry died in 1928 and Charlotte died at her daughter’s home on 26 July 1933 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
