Helen Grant was born about 1846, probably in Scotland.

She came to New Zealand & married Thomas Brodie, a carpenter, in 1867.

They had 6 children before Thomas died in 1877.

When Helen signed the suffrage petition she was living with her son in Hanover St, Dunedin.

She died at her home on August 7th 1902 & is buried with Thomas in the Northern Cemetery.
