Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Mary Henry was born about 1831 in Scotland. She was the wife of Joseph Henry, a gardener, and they had at least five children.

The family lived in Manor Place, Dunedin from about 1878 until 1887. Joseph died in Walker St in 1889 - Mary was living there when she signed the suffrage petition, and her daughter Caroline also signed.

Mary died on 16 December 1917 at 'Matakara', Upper Carroll St, Dunedin. She is buried in the Southern Cemetery with her husband.
