Emma Thomas was born about 1867. She married George Carl Heimbrod, a computer, in 1892 in Victoria, Australia.
They came to New Zealand and had five children.
When Emma signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Maclaggan St, Dunedin.
They later moved to Wellington then Auckland where George worked as a photographer.
George died in 1940 and is buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
Emma died on 7 June 1960, she was cremated and her ashes buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
