Iris Fidela Fulton was born in 1868 in New Zealand - the daughter of Francis Crossley Fulton and Fanny Fidela Hall.

She married Gerald Roland King, a clerk, on 11 June 1892 at the Napier Cathedral – they had two children and when Iris signed the suffrage petition they were living in Napier.

Iris died on 5 May 1929 at Havelock and Gerald died in 1934 in Hastings, they are buried together in the Havelock North Cemetery.
