Jane Innes was born about 1831 in Scotland.

She married John Girvan on 2 February 1863 in Lanarkshire and they had three children before they emigrated to New Zealand in the in the 1860s or 1870s.

They settled at Waitahuna West in South Otago where they had a farm. In 1885 their home was destroyed by fire.

John was declared bankrupt in 1888 and when Jane signed the suffrage petition they were living at Blue Spur near their daughter Mary. (See 82 Mrs M Cook)

Jane died in December 1916 and John died in 1932, they are buried together in the Lawrence Cemetery.
