Biographical information provided by Jenni Chrisstoffels for the He Tohu exhibition:

Fanny Hollow (nee Brown) was about 19 years old and living with her husband, John Henry Franklin Hollow, and her mother-in-law when she signed the petition (Mrs Hollow also signed). The couple married in 1891 when she was 17 and he was 35 years old. They had three children, William Franklin Rosewarne (born 1892), Frances May (born 1893 but died six months later), and Winifred Evelyn (born in 1895). John was a printer and briefly owned a news agents in Dunedin.

The couple moved to Wellington around 1905 along with Winifred, who continued to live with them until her marriage to James Gray in 1920. In 1922 Fanny’s husband died and shortly after Fanny moved in with her daughter and son-in-law until her death in 1929. She was 55 years old.
