Jane Adamson was born about 1825 in Haddingtonshire, Scotland.

She had a daughter in 1849 and she married tailor, James Adamson, the following year in Saltoun.

Jane’s second daughter, Isabella, was born in Glasgow in 1858 – she died in Tynemouth, England in 1865.

The family emigrated to Dunedin about 1880 where James died in 1883.

When Jane signed the suffrage petition she was living in Hope Rd, North East Valley.

She died on 16 July 1907 at her daughter’s home in Dunedin.

She is buried with James in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
