Louisa Jelley was born in 1871 in London - the daughter of James Jelley, a bootmaker, and Louisa Atkins.

The family emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Tweed.

Louisa attended Mornington School. In 1891 she married James Young Wilson, a seaman - they had four children.

Louisa died on 22 September 1921 and James died in 1927. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
