Louisa Ann Sutton was born on 7 June 1860 in Kilfinan, Argyllshire, Scotland – the daughter of Charles Sutton, a gun powder maker and Louisa Ann Couper.
She arrived in New Zealand around 1873 and, in 1882, married John Jack, a cooper. They had six children and lived in Eskvale St, Musselburgh, Dunedin.
Louisa died on 26 November 1894, aged 34. John re-married and he died in 1928. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
