Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Letitia Arnal/Arniel was born in Victoria, Australia in 1863 – the daughter of William Arnal and Mary Aithey.

She came to New Zealand with her family and married James Jackson, a cab driver, in 1882.

They had four daughters and when Letitia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Kingston Place, Castle St, Dunedin.

James died at their home in St Kilda, Dunedin in 1934 and Letitia died on 12 June 1945. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
