Agnes Blair was born in 1841 in Dudley, Worcestershire, England – the daughter of Robert Blair, a draper, and Agnes Dick.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1857 on the George Canning and they settled at East Taieri, south of Dunedin.
She married James Callander, a farmer, on 26 September 1862 at her parent’s home 'Blair Cottage'.
They had seven children, one who died in infancy and celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1912.
James died in 1914 and Agnes died on 9 February 1929, they are buried in the family grave in the East Taieri Cemetery.
