Janet Montgomery was born about 1810 in Haddingtonshire, Scotland.
She married Alexander Miller, a joiner, on November 24th 1831 in Edinburgh & they had 5 children, one who died in infancy before the family emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860’s. They settled at Sunnyside near Dunedin where Alexander died in 1877.
Janet later moved to South Dunedin - when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Bathgate Street.
Janet died at her home on June 20th1894, she is buried with Alexander in the Southern Cemetery.
