Annie Louisa Anderson was born on March 4th 1846 in Bothwell, Tasmania, the daughter of Thomas Arthur Anderson and Christian Turnbull.
She married William Knowles, a shoemaker, on August 31st 1866 at her parents’ home in Bothwell.
They had five children before they sailed for Otago in the mid 1870s, and a further eight children after their arrival.
They settled in Dunedin, and when Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Princes Street.
William died in 1894 and Annie died on May 3rd 1899. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
