Ellen Gavin Morgan was born about 1860.
She married James Leckie in 1877 and when Ellen signed the suffrage petition they were living in North East Valley, Dunedin.
They had six sons before Ellen died on 13 September 1894, apparently in childbirth – this child did not survive.
James died at his son’s home in Timaru in 1939 – he is buried with Ellen in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
