Isabella Kezia Jackson was born about 1836 in Ireland. She arrived in New Zealand about 1864.

She married James Ledgerwood, a hawker, in 1865. They had five children and lived in Dunedin. When Isabella signed the suffrage petition they were living in York Place.

Isabella died on 24 July 1909 and James died in 1920. They are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay, Dunedin.
