Margaret Mary Mahon Duncan was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of Henry Duncan, a contractor and Marianne Helena Slattery. (See 33 Mrs Henry Duncan)
Margaret married William George Lumley, a jeweller, on 14 December 1892 in Kensington, Dunedin.
They had three children and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Henry St, Maori Hill.
In 1942 they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary with an 'at home Monday afternoon and evening'.
Margaret died on 22 January 1943 and William died later that year in June – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
