Biographical information provided for by Sarah Hewitt for the He Tohu exhibition:

Margaret Helen Sangster Morison was born on 29 Jan 1847 at Stonebriggs Farm, Pitsligo, Aberdeen, Scotland, to Thomas Morison (b.1813) and Jane Davidson (b.1822).

By 5 Nov 1866 she was in the Hawke's Bay, where she married James Peacock (1834-1922), a sheep farmer of Meeamee, brother to Hector and Gavin also of Meeamee. They had 5 children born between 1867 and 1881 in NZ including Eva and Isa listed below her on the petition.  Her second daughter Jeannie Isabelle married Eustace Henry Fulton of Dunedin in 1891 - not yet found on petition, but moved to Dunedin.

In 1882 and 1887 James and Margaret are listed as Meeanee Store Owners and Postmaster/Mistress.

The 1893 electoral roll lists Margaret as doing 'House Duties' in Meeanee with James and daughter Eva.

Margaret died on 21 January  1933 with her name given as Margaret Elizabeth Helena Maria Sangster Peacock in BMD and Margaret Eleanor Sangster Peacock on her will.  She left her entire estate to her youngest daughter Hilda (1881-1935, never married).
