Margaret Watson was born about 1830.
She married Christopher Thomas Hetherington, a miner, on 27 April 1866 in the Green Island Parish.
Christopher was a widower with a young son whose wife had died the previous year.
Margaret and Christopher had five children, one who died in infancy, and they lived at Saddle Hill, near Dunedin where Christopher died in 1890 and where Margaret signed the suffrage petition. Margaret died at her home on 14 August 1898 – she is buried in the East Taieri Cemetery with Christopher.
