Margaret McDonald was born about 1860 in Scotland. She emigrated to New Zealand about 1864.
Margaret married William Hoskins, a carter, in 1885 and they had three daughters.
When she signed the suffrage petition, Margaret was living with her family in Cumberland St, Dunedin.
She died on 17 September 1931. William died in 1936. They are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery, Dunedin.
