Margaret Baxter was born about 1855 in Ireland.
She emigrated to Otago in the 1870s where she married Robert Kyle on 25 March 1887 at South Dunedin.
Robert was a coal miner and a widower whose wife and child had died the previous year.
They settled at Saddle Hill, near Fairfield, where Margaret signed the suffrage petition.
They later moved to Caversham where Margaret died on 4 October 1910 – she is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
Robert re-married in 1915, he died at Seacliff in 1935 and is buried in the Waitati Cemetery.
