Bridget Tansey was born about 1865 in County Antrim, Ireland.
She came to New Zealand and married Patrick McAuley in 1881.
They had a total of 12 children which included twins – three of their children died in childhood, Andrew and Jane dying two days apart in 1891.
When Bridget signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Andersons Bay Rd, Dunedin.
Patrick died in 1907 and Bridget died on 25 February 1912, they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
